Meridian Form New Zealand: Road Running Club Kit Wash Durability Evaluation

Source:Customer Cases / Time:2026-09-16

Meridian Form is a New Zealand-based brand whose road running club kit is one of its most demanding programmes. Durability is where most functional claims fail. We washed the moisture-wicking polyester single jersey fifty times under domestic conditions and re-measured after every ten cycles for Meridian Form.

Evaluation background

The programme covers singlets, shorts and lightweight jackets, used for high cadence road training and race day. The environment is repeated perspiration and friction over long distances and the requirement written into the brief was low weight with uninterrupted moisture transport. Fabric was selected on that basis rather than on price alone.

Method

Washing ran at 30 degrees with a standard reference detergent and no softener, then tumble dried on low. This mirrors what customers actually do rather than what a care label optimistically suggests.

Performance by cycle

The fabric started at moisture management class 4-5 and held above 90% of that value through 30 cycles. The decline after cycle 40 was gradual, which is the behaviour we want: a slow change, not a sudden failure.

Appearance

Pilling stayed at grade 4 or above and there was no visible shade shift against the retained reference. Surface comfort after washing mattered most to Meridian Form, so hand was scored by a panel at every interval.

Conclusion on service life

On this evidence the garment keeps its function for a full retail season of weekly washing, and AATCC 195 remains a valid claim for that period.

Verdict and recommendation

Fifty cycles is a reasonable service life for this product class, and the moisture-wicking polyester single jersey stayed inside tolerance throughout. Care wording should be printed exactly as tested. For Meridian Form the practical next steps are to keep the current specification for the repeat, retain the shade standard, and issue AATCC 195 results with every lot so any claim can be supported with data.
